Defending champion Al Hilal Riyadh (SBL) agreed terms with 33-year old American guard Mark Lyons (185cm-84kg-1989, college: Arizona) for new 2022-23 season. Lyons played this summer at Zip Em Up (The Basketball Tournament) in the U.S. He managed to play in three leagues in two countries last year.
The most of last season he spent at Elitzur Ironi Ashkelon in Israeli National League where in 13 games he had very impressive stats: 17.4ppg, 3.5rpg and 6.6apg (top 4). Lyons also played for Balikesir Buyuksehir Belediyespor in Turkish TBL. In 11 games he recorded also remarkable stats: 21.5ppg, 2.6rpg and 6.4apg.
He has tried to make it to the NBA and played in the NBA Pro Summer League in 2013.
Lyons is quite experienced player. Lyons' career allowed him to visit four different continents, while he played in twelve different countries. He tasted the life as pro basketball player in Europe, Asia, Latin America and of course North America. Lyons has played previously professionally in Belgium (Spirou Charleroi), China (Guizhou), Croatia (Zadar), France (Chorale de Roanne), Greece (Charilaos), Italy (Pesaro), Lebanon (Al Riyadi), Puerto Rico (Piratas), Russia (Enisey), Israel (Hapoel Tel Aviv, Maccabi Rishon and Ironi Nahariya), Turkey (Gaziantep and Usak) and The Basketball Tournament (Armored Athlete and Team Fancy).
The list of the past achievements is quite long as among others his college team won Dubai International Tournament in 2019. He was voted to Eurobasket.com Israeli League All-Imports Team back in 2016.
Lyons graduated from University of Arizona in 2013 and it will be his tenth season as a professional player.
